Otara Dale Gunawardene is a well-known entrepreneur in Sri Lanka. At the time, women did not take up the challenge of running a business she developed a clothing brand – ODEL – in Sri Lanka with a chain of outlets all over the country. After selling her ODEL brand, Otara developed another brand, “who we are,” is she handed over that business very recently to two other young entrepreneurs. Now, Otara is mainly looking after the work of her “Embark” project, which involves taking care of dogs. Otherwise, Otara is now just enjoying her life traveling around the country and taking care of her health by regularly engaging in physical activities. Otara is also very active on social media and keeps her fans updated daily.
Otara today posted a very nice photo that has historical importance. It is a picture of late minister Mangala Samaraweera, Senaka de Silva, and Otara. Mangala Samaraweera was a designer before he started doing politics. We all know the legacy that the late Mangala Samaraweera left with us. He was controversial in active politics, but after his demise, people began to realize how accurate he was in defining specific issues.
The other one featured in this photo is Mr. Senaka De Silva, a designer, and choreographer. The photo was taken in Oman during a fashion show which promoted Sri Lanka in the late eighties.
Senaka De Silva is continuing in the same field. Now he works at a consultant level in the design field. Senaka is involved primarily in promoting Sri Lankan handloom clothes. Senaka also travels all around the country seeking local articians and helping them to become enterprenures.
We are sure that you might not have seen a photo of Mr. Mangala Samaraweera as young as this one. However, this tells you something that Mangala even before engaged in politics was doing a great service for Sri Lanka. Mangala innocents was Mr. Mangala Samaraweera’s designer brand and as Mr. Senaka De Silva shared in a recent interview, Mangala was identified as his best designer. Senka also identifies Otara as a very good model and entrepreneur.
