Why Does Sri Lanka does not grow Wheat ?
- Asked By: Schindler

I know Sri lankan economy mainly rely on Agriculture. Wheat is a good and useful crop which can be grown easily. As I know Sri Lanka imports wheat and some of the Sri Lankan politicians are also against Wheat import. I am wondering why does Sri lanka not cultivate this economic crop. For example the neighboring India is the second largest wheat producer of the world and Sri Lanka has almost tropical climate. i would appreciate if someone could explain the possible reason for this.
