I heard Sri Lanka Captain Kumar Sangakkara thanking a Doctor during the post match conference of Cricket world cup final 2011. He thanked Sri Lanka president and Dr. Eliyantha White.

Who is Dr. Eliyantha White and what service he has done to Sri Lanka team ?

  1. Dr. Eliyantha White is the personal physician of Sri Lanka president Mahinda Rajapaksha. He is also very famous for treating many popular figures. Mainly local and international cricketers have been treated by him. When Lasith Malinga’s had a knee injury he treated him enabling him to perform at international level again.
Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Gautham Gambhir were also treated by him and Sachin had thanked this doctor after his 200 runs in an One Day International Match.
Former cricketer and cricket commentator Ian Chapel also got treatment from this doctor during the world cup matches. Sri Lankan president’s media shared this information with public.

Dr. Eliyantha White is not a practicing western medicine. I think he is a alternative medicine doctor and said to use some occult power when treating patients. I would call him a naturopathic healer but I am not sure about his practice method.

Hello Adil,

I understand your concern regarding your health. Rather than getting 2nd hand information on the internet, I think you should best speak to the nephrology/renal units at various Sri Lankan hospitals and obtain the information straight from the horse’s mouth. You could try the state run National Hospital of Sri Lanka (telephone: 94-11-2691111) – where locals are treated free of charge, I don’t know how it is for foreigners. Or else there are several private hospitals such as Lanka Hospitals, Asiri, Nawaloka and Durdans. You could look up their phone numbers online and call them directly.

No. She is a clinical psychologist, not a psychiatrist. But she will refer patients to a psychiatrist if medication is needed.
