This week Tharu Pahak Awith program in Derana TV featured sons and daughters of popular Sri Lankan singers. The eminent announcer Naradha Bakmeewawa present this program. The participants were Nalin Perera’s daughter Swetha Perera, Chandani Hettiarachchi’s daughter Jacqualine Williams, Nuwan Gunawardana’s son Gayan Gunawardana, Neel Warnakulasuriya’s son Shakthi Warnakulasuriya and Keerthi Pasquel’s son Kasun Pasquel. Swetha Perera shared that she likes music and dancing and she is a student in APITT university. Swetha likes Bollywood dancing and her favorite music is western popular music. Shakthi Warnakulasuriya sang his dad’s song “sudo sudu”. Shakthi is also a graduate of APITT. Shakthi is more into playing drums rather than singing. Gayan Gunawardana runs his own music studio at home and planning to release two new songs in near future. Swetha sang her dad’s “Samanala Ranak Se igili”. “Tharu Pahak Awith” is a entertainment program telecast in Derana Television on every Sunday morning. The program is presented by Narada Bakmeewawa and each week they invite five stars with something in common. So far the program have featured singers, actors, sportsmen, etc and it was five of popular former cricketers who were invited. All of them are now busy with coaching tasks attached to Sri Lanka Cricket with the exception of Nuwan Soyza who has taken over the coaching in an Indian team. Other than the Nuwan Soyza, Sri Lanka fast balling coach Anusha Samaranayaka, Nothern Province Sri Lanka Cricket Coach Ravindra Pushpakumara, Former Sri Lankan all rounder and current Sri Lankan Under-19 fielding coach Upul Chandana, former Sri lankan all rounder and Sri Lanka National Cricket Team’s fielding coach Ruwan Kalpage also joined the program sharing their experiences and showing their singing talent. Anusha Samaranayaka was the first to sing a song; Anusha sang Clarance Wijegunawardana’s “Sandak Basagiya Awaragire” (1st video). Upul Chandana sang H.R.Jothipala’s popular song “Jeewithe Tharunakale” (2nd Video). Third song was “Egoda Gode Malnelana Mal Ethano” and it was sang by Anusha Samaranayaka (Video 2 – 20.34). Ravindra Pushpakara then join in singing H.R.Jothipala’s song “Adara Malpawane” (Video 3). Ruwan Kalpage sang Wijaya Kumarathunga’s “Ganga Addara Maa”.Upul Chandana finishes the program singing H.R.Jothipala’s song “Malin Piri Giya” All of them shared their lighter moments during their careers as players and coaches. Also Sri Lankan former fast baller Chaminda Vass joined by phone.
