What happened in the 1996 cricket world cup semifinals between India and Sri Lanka?

sheep torture in progress 1473

India lose to Sri Lanka in 96 world cup. However the match never finished. India was 120/8 chasing Sri Lanka’s 251 at 34 overs. 16 overs were left and 2 wickets were in hand, but the umpires declared Sri Lanka the winner. Why? I was a small kid back then and barely remember the details. All I can remember is that there was news umpire declared SL the winner without the match finishing. It was not D/L and there was no rain either.

What is the first thing you would do when back in Sri Lanka ?

Krishantha 1115

This question is for fellow Sri Lankans who are living abroad. There are many Sri Lankans who live overseas, as immigrant workers, permanent residents, citizens, etc. There are some of us who have not got a chance to visit our mother land for years due to many reasons. There is one thing common for all of us, We all miss our mother nation. We are always eager to know things which are happening in Sri Lanka. We read all the online papers, find time to watch Sri lanka news, reality shows, etc. I have many things in mind to do when I visit Sri Lanka. I hope you also would be having. We can not buy certain things in the countries we live which we love in Sri Lanka. I have a list, but I do not want to distract your thinking. My question is what is the first thing that you would do when you visit Sri Lanka next time ?

Ajantha Mendis going to join Australian Cricket team , Is it true?

Brenda_Maddumage_facebook 743

I just got an e-mail from my friend with an image from a Australian news paper which says that Ajantha Mendis going to play for Australian cricket team. It is also said that Ajantha Mendis has an Australian girl friend. According to the report Ajantha Mendis will first play to Australian Victoria cricket team. Ajantha Mendis will be playing as their international player for 12 months and then later on he will be recruited to national side. This is an attempt due to the lack of quality spinners in the Australian cricket team these days. I wonder whether this news is true. Sri Lankans living in Australia must be knowing this better.

What is the true story about Pitaduwe Siridamma Thero?

Shantha 1230

I heard many rumors about our venerable Pitaduwe Siridamma thero. According to latest news siridamma hamuduruwo has left to USA with a heavy heart. I think this can be yet another secret agenda by anti Buddhist fractions. Siridamma thero was a popular monk and frequently appeared in main stream media. Siridamma thero is a micro biology graduate and he became a monk after the graduation. Following are few rumors that I heard and many of them are in popular medias. 1. Mervin Silva created an environment against the thero as he was against the building of a kovil. 2. Villagers raised against thero and activities in the temple. 3. When he was a layman, had an affair with one called Niranjala Shyamali Groses and she has filed a case against thero. There are many rumors but I do not believe in those. Our great Soma thero also had to face obstacles when he was active and popular. As I understand all these are to blackmail our great Buddhist leaders and I hope someone who is well known to thero will take the opportunity here to clear our thero’s good name.

Dr. Eliyantha White’s official blog ?

Brenda_Maddumage_facebook 1365

Hey folks, Please help me to find out Dr. Eliyantha White’s official blog. Surely not to contact him, but just to see what is there. I now vaguely remember this guy. According to news article he has tried to be a singer before and has run an auto shop in Kalubowila. His face was always familiar to me and I was trying to remember. Is this the guy who was “trying to sing” and was frequently showing face in one of TNL Channel musical program sponsored by Japan Lanka Auto…or something. That was in 1994 – 1995 period. People like this are common in Sri Lanka, Once there was a big hype about Kelum Weerasinghe and those who criticized them were considered as anti patriotic. Now Anyway please give me this “Doctor’s” blog address. Thanks in advance.

Warning. DHI hair transplants are not success. I have had it and only few hair grew. Cost Rs 350,000. Monet wasted. Some few hair grew but after some time all the hair fell out. When I called to complain they hang up and avoid. Even Suraj who done there has now suffered more hair fall. Check his photos on th internet. Dont waste money. Better be bald.

Dr Upendra De Silva at the skin clinic in Bambalapitiya now claims to do hair transplants. This is not successful for sure. Just look even he wears a wig. Why does Upendra wear a wig if he can do good hair transplants. lol. He does not trust his clinics work. Next time if you go his clinic check his wig on head. It is a good wig. He is bald as a cricket ball otherwise. lol.

In my view the best hair transplants in Sri Lanka is in Parakum mawatha, Batharamulla. A few of my friends did it there and good results too. Cost is affordable and team do good reliable work. Got my baldness treated for Rs 50,000 and my hair looks nice now.

Everyone knows people in Sri Lanka are good at throwing mud but poor at praising good work. SO if you want to grow hair visit all the clinics and find the one that best suits you. Good luck.
