the reason all the clothes u by are made in china, (i have never heard of something being made in sri lanka but that is probably for the same reason) is because these countries dont charge as much to export. simple as that.

            Production is much cheaper.
People in America want good pay, so its hard to produce massive amounts of something and make a good profit.
In countries like China and Mexico where there are people willing to work just as hard with less pay.
            Its all about profits.

Companies now are placing their manufacturing factories is poorer countries with a lot of people so because people in those countries are willing to work for very little because there are so many people in that country (there is competition for the job) therefore they work for very little. This makes it cheaper for the companies and also takes money and jobs away from America. This is partly why we are in this economic ditch right now. Companies use countries like China, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Taiwan, Indonesia and so forth. Hope this helped!

it is cheaper to make it in those countries because they do not have to pay the workers as much.

That’s what’s called the competitive advantage of nations. It is far more cheaper to source clothes from those countries than to make them in US, UK or France. The fixed and variable costs, including labour and raw material are cheaper in those developing countries and they have been making them for so long some have large economies of scale and labour efficiencies as they are producing large volumes of near-identical clothing to different labels from big stores.
Even if US made similar clothing, the price would be so exorbitant there would only be a handful of people willing to buy them.

This is because outsourcing and cheap labour. It doesn’t affect the quality.

In Sri Lanka a garment tailor can get a monthly salary between US$108 – US$118. It depends upon the experience they have.
