Driving License

I am English and a resident of sri Lanka. I have a UK driving license but last May I applied for a sri Lankan driving licence. I took the written test and passed, then took the practical driving test and was passed and issued with a temporary licence and was told that I would be given the permanent license in a years time. Today I had a phone call from Kandy motor dept saying that my licence had been refused because I am a foreigner. WHY?? I don’t understand why I was allowed to take the test and given a temp license if foreigners are not allowed.
Please can you explain.

  1. These things can happen in Sri lanka. I feel extreamly sorry about you. There are people who do not know the law and who take decisions on their own. I think this is something your embassy should be made aware of. They will take an immediate action.
