This week Tharu Pahak Awith program in Derana TV featured sons and daughters of popular Sri Lankan singers. The eminent announcer Naradha Bakmeewawa present this program. The participants were Nalin Perera’s daughter Swetha Perera, Chandani Hettiarachchi’s daughter Jacqualine Williams, Nuwan Gunawardana’s son Gayan Gunawardana, Neel Warnakulasuriya’s son Shakthi Warnakulasuriya and Keerthi Pasquel’s son Kasun Pasquel. Swetha Perera shared that she likes music and dancing and she is a student in APITT university. Swetha likes Bollywood dancing and her favorite music is western popular music. Shakthi Warnakulasuriya sang his dad’s song “sudo sudu”. Shakthi is also a graduate of APITT. Shakthi is more into playing drums rather than singing. Gayan Gunawardana runs his own music studio at home and planning to release two new songs in near future. Swetha sang her dad’s “Samanala Ranak Se igili”. Athula Adhikari has released his latest song “Wena Hithakata Thuruluwela”. The music and lyrics are done by Sandaruwan Jayasingha and Kasun Primal respectively and this duo have been working together in few popular songs recently. The song is about bitter side of love and Kasun Primal has done a great work in writing this song. Video has been done “Hary Creations” with the video direction by Lahiru Mudalige. “Tharu Pahak Awith” is a entertainment program telecast in Derana Television on every Sunday morning. The program is presented by Narada Bakmeewawa and each week they invite five stars with something in common. So far the program have featured singers, actors, sportsmen, etc and it was five of popular former cricketers who were invited. All of them are now busy with coaching tasks attached to Sri Lanka Cricket with the exception of Nuwan Soyza who has taken over the coaching in an Indian team. Other than the Nuwan Soyza, Sri Lanka fast balling coach Anusha Samaranayaka, Nothern Province Sri Lanka Cricket Coach Ravindra Pushpakumara, Former Sri Lankan all rounder and current Sri Lankan Under-19 fielding coach Upul Chandana, former Sri lankan all rounder and Sri Lanka National Cricket Team’s fielding coach Ruwan Kalpage also joined the program sharing their experiences and showing their singing talent. Anusha Samaranayaka was the first to sing a song; Anusha sang Clarance Wijegunawardana’s “Sandak Basagiya Awaragire” (1st video). Upul Chandana sang H.R.Jothipala’s popular song “Jeewithe Tharunakale” (2nd Video). Third song was “Egoda Gode Malnelana Mal Ethano” and it was sang by Anusha Samaranayaka (Video 2 – 20.34). Ravindra Pushpakara then join in singing H.R.Jothipala’s song “Adara Malpawane” (Video 3). Ruwan Kalpage sang Wijaya Kumarathunga’s “Ganga Addara Maa”.Upul Chandana finishes the program singing H.R.Jothipala’s song “Malin Piri Giya” All of them shared their lighter moments during their careers as players and coaches. Also Sri Lankan former fast baller Chaminda Vass joined by phone.
Popular Actor, Comedian and Director Jayasekara Aponsu’s new film “Seetha Man Awa” is being screened these days. “Seetha Man Awa” is the second film directed by Jayasekara Aponsu after his first film “Ru Raa”. Even though Jayasekara Aponsu’s stage dramas like “Thatu” “Sako” and “Iri” were popular he did not have the same luck with his first film. He believe his second film “Seetha Man Awa” will be a successful one due to many reasons. “Seetha Man Awa” is a production of Dinith Entertainments. This story has been earlier produced as a stage drama and then the producer was Sirithunga Perera. “Seetha Man Awa” is a comedy film. The story is based on king Rawana in Ramayanaya. An Indian Charmer, Pasin Bayi (Bandula Wijeweera) find an ancient book which reveals the place that King Rawana’s body has been deposited. His body is immersed in a medicinal boat in a cave. Pasin Bayi comes to Sri Lanka and join Gayida (Rodney Warnakula) to search for the place. Ultimately they find King Rawana and King Rawana rise from death. The film contain series of incidents happening after incarnation of King Rawana. The film cast include Jayasekara Aponsu, Bandula Wijeweera, Rodney Warnakula, Bandu Samarasingha, Chanchala Warnasuriya, Ranjith De Silva, Sarath Kulanga, Sanoja Bibile, Jeewan Haduneththi, Anuradha Kulakurasuriya and Gamini Costs. Raja Horu is the latest sinhala film and it started screening this week in C.E.L film circuit. Raja Horu is a film by Suranga De Alwis and acting cast include Sri Lankan-cinema super hero Ranjan Ramanaya, Arjuna Kamalanath, Buddhika Jayaratha, Shriyani Amarasena, Sandun Wijesiri, Roni Leech, Himali Siriwardana, Hemantha Irigama, D.B.Gangoda Thanna, Premadasa Vithanage, Erdly Wedamuni, Nishani Gamage. Raja Horu is a production of “Evoke Film Company”. The music has been done by popular music director Sarath De Alwis. Sajitha Weeapperuma is the camera director. The film editing is by Praveen Jayarathna and Saman Padhmakumara is the art director. Samantha Mayadunna has done the fight direction of this action filled movie while Prasad Amarasekara and Nishantha Weerasinghe contributed as Assistant Directors.
