Can I use my credit card with a chip (no pin) in Sri Lanka?

I’m planning on travelling to Sri Lanka next month, however I have a few safety concerns about carrying too much cash on me. A co-worker told me it is possible to withdraw money from my credit card without any issues, but I’m concerned because I do not have a CHIP card. So I was never assigned a PIN.

Is my co-worker correct about not needing the pin?

Many thanks in advance!

I don’t know about Sri Lanka but I tried it in Sweden one Sunday morning and the ATM ate my card.

No PIN, no cash. What you really need is an ATM card from your bank. If you don’t have one and cannot get one, call your credit card company about a new card with a PIN….however they charge you a lot to get cash from your credit card. An ATM card is best.
