    No ‘conversion’s are allowed.
If you are already in Sri Lanka, you can apply instead for a new Sri Lankan driving licence. Since you are an expat and are holding a resident visa, this should pose no problem.
Or else, you could apply for an international driving licence.
    Best of Luck.

You should have applied for an International Drivers License here so that you can drive wherever you are on the planet.

We tried to contact relevant institutions to get a detailed and reliable answer. But Only Lanka Automobile Automobile Association gave a good answer. According to them they will issue a transient license (1 year ) when you submit your current license from your resident country. Hope this would help.
